ROUNDTABLE #1

As I read back through a lot of my posts I realized they're all starting to sound pretty similar. Creative, soulful, dope flow, crazy mix, old classic. blah blah blah blah. To change things up a bit I'm bringing back the "ROUNDTABLE" to see what my buddies have to say about some of the songs I've been spinning. I'll also be throwing their own favorites into the discussion in future weeks to make sure my tast in music isn't the only thing getting bashed every damn week. Hopefully this gives you guys something interesting to read as well as a chance to listen to something new more often.

B.o.B-Wonderland
CHOPS: Gay TechnoEuroPopRap= Wonderland....when did BOB become not-southern?
LEFTYHOOK: waaaaaaaaaaay too happy for me
GRAWEDOG: not bad, but overall it is weak and doesn't really bring anything to the table
GILLY: Catchy, but its kinda raining men...
LIUBANG: Nice beat to a mellow song.
CHIVATO: I don't know what the f*ck most of you are talkin about...this is fresh...don't hate on B.o.B. bringing his own style to the game.

Malik Yusef ft. Adam Levine & Kanye West-Promise Land
CHOPS: Seemed like a bad spoken voice mashup (which I thought was going to turn into something sweet) until Jesus Walks II came on and really ruined it...you eat pieces of shit for breakfast, huh? Seemed like a bad spoken voice mashup (which I thought was going to turn into something sweet) until Jesus Walks II came on and really ruined it...you eat pieces of shit for breakfast, huh?
LEFTYHOOK: this is what "two words" would sound like if it was slower and didn't have as good of a beat
GRAWEDOG: the intro is really annoying and ruins everything about this song
GILLY: I know this is supposed to be inspiring and poetic, but it doesn't manage to be either to me.
LIUBANG: Slow beat with a gospel feel to it.
CHIVATO: Had me hyped at first but its tries to do what "Never Let Me Down" from College Dropout did...J Ivy gave you goosebumps with his spoken words but here you just wait for Malik Yusef to stop yapping.

Joell Ortiz & The Kickdrums-How To Change
CHOPS: Makes me want to sit on a stoop, drink beers, and watch the neighborhood kids jump rope, which is weird since I'm a white suburbanite. Not big on the chorus, but the rest is chill as hell. The best of this bunch.
LEFTYHOOK: the best song in the entire set
GRAWEDOG: def the best song of the set, has a great beat and i can see myself listening to this every day after work.
GILLY: Awesome song - it manages to do what Promise Land tries to do without even trying.
LIUBANG: Not my favorite type of song. The song is too plain.
CHIVATO: REAL HIP HOP

Jon Hope-The Most Important Song of My Life
CHOPS: I like the beat and the flow, but I was hopin' for a better chorus. Man, this is kind of wonderful...what the hell is that, Jon Hope, make up your mind man. You know what's kind of wonderful? Thinking you shit your pants but realizing you didn't. It's not wonderful cause you know you almost shit yourself as an adult, but it kinda is wonderful cause you know that there is a God and you can wear those same boxers for another couple of days. This song is kinda wonderful, but the fact it might've shit its pants leaves me questioning it. Solid, but could be better for me.
LEFTYHOOK: i really like this instrumental, but why does this guy keep name-dropping soulja boy?
GRAWEDOG: the chorus is a little annoying, but overall the flow is great and makes this a solid song
GILLY: I don't think I like soulful hip-hop.
LIUBANG: Pretty sweet song. Gives props to some of today's greatest.
CHIVATO: WTF Chops???!!! LOL...I really dig this song...nice soulful beat, dope flow, and a realistic look at the current hip hop world. No need to hate...just find your niche in this game and work your way up. Good music will find a way to be heard.
Chalie Boy-I Look Good
CHOPS: This song actually sucks more than I could every say, but I can't help liking it. see me in the club, it's goin' down. Then again, I'm just a sucker for bass.
LEFTYHOOK: HATE this. the guy's voice is annoying as hell. the lyrics are uninspiring even for party songs. i hope i never hear this song again. every other song in this listening session sounds awesome in comparison to this song
GRAWEDOG: but you rap like shit
GILLY: There is no value to this song.
LIUBANG: Song sucks, raps about some stupid shit.
CHIVATO: Not my usual cup of tea but I jam to this.
